Osseointegration Foundation Research Grant

The objective of this grant is to provide support for research in the basic, clinical and behavioral science aspects of dental implants. (Basic Science: A study that deals with the life sciences. Clinical: A study that is inclusive of human subjects.) Applications that address areas of research to enhance the public acceptance of implants are welcome.

Two research grant awards (one clinical and one basic science) of up to $25,000 each may be awarded annually to individuals who are (1) a member of the Academy of Osseointegration or (2) a faculty member or student who conducts the research in any U.S. academic dental institution (at least one of the team members must be a member of Academy of Osseointegration).

This grant is funded by the Osseointegration Foundation (OF, or the Foundation) and administered through the Academy of Osseointegration (AO, or the Academy) to support clinical and basic scientific investigation in the field of dental implants.

The deadline for submission is December 31, 2010. The recipients of this award will be notified by February 15, 2011. Details of eligibility as well as application requirements are outlined in the Information and Application PDF document. (Click on the following link to view and print this document.)

Osseointegration Foundation Charitable Grant Program

Each year the Osseointegration Foundation makes available 10 grants of up to $10,000 for subsidizing the care of eligible patients. Each grant will be issued upon completion of those portions of the case “when the intended function result is completed,” but prior to the required three-year follow-up. This grant does not restrict how or where these funds are to be allocated by the service provider, as long as the entire grant is spent directly on patient care and treatment in the domain of osseointegration. Under no circumstances will the patient receiving care through this grant program be charged for any services rendered.

Both care providers and corporate partners may participate in this program for public relation purposes. Additionally, participants in the grant program, including care providers and corporate partners, will receive narrative recognition at all opportunities (i.e. at official Academy meetings), and visual recognition in several forums, including: Academy News; the Academy Bulletin Board in the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants; and the
Osseointegration Foundation Report.

The awards will be determined annually and recipients will be notified in January.
