What steps are involved to become a FELLOW?

The first step in becoming a Fellow in the Academy of Osseointegration is to join the Academy as an Active member. Individuals may not enter the Academy as a Fellow. If you are already a member of the Academy, you may be ready to apply for Fellowship. If you believe that you qualify for the Fellowship, please complete the Application for Fellowship. Once received, the Executive office will verify your data and forward your application to the Membership and Credentials Committee for evaluation.

Applicants for Fellowship must have been an Active member for a minimum of five (5) years and must have attended at least 5 (five) Annual Meetings.

The Academy bases the fellowship application upon a point system. Applicants for Fellowship must have earned accumulated 10 points from the following activities, with some points required from both category A (Service) and category B (Academics).

A. Service:
Served on the Academy of Osseointegration Board of Directors. Points: 1 (one) per completed year
Actively served on a committee. Points: 1 (one) per completed term
Served as Annual Meeting Chair. Points: 3 (three)
Served as Annual Meeting Program Chair. Points: 3 (three)
Served as a council / committee chair. Points: 2 (two) per term
Organized an Academy of Osseointegration Regional Meeting. Points: 1 (one)
 
B. Academics:
Presented at an Academy of Osseointegration Annual Meeting. Points: 1 (one) per meeting
Published an article on implant dentistry in a refereed journal. Points: 2 (two) per article
Published textbook or textbook chapter on Implant Dentistry. Points: 1 (one) – 3 (three)*
Presented at an Academy of Osseointegration Regional Meeting. Points: 1 (one)
