Risk Evaluation Factors Associated With Systemic Disorders
Louis F. Rose, MD, DDS
Although dental implants have been a successful option for replacement of lost dentition for nearly five decades, their use in the medical and dental treatment plan is still evolving. Literature on the medical implications of dental implants is surprisingly sparse with a need for organization. We must be critical in choosing each case and customize treatment plans according to medical condition while managing all medical aspects with vigor, academic excellence and due dilligence.

1:45-2:10 pm
Risk Evaluation - Local Assessment in the Esthetic Zone
Ueli Grunder, DMD
Analysis of each case prior to the treatment is an important step in order to fulfill the patient's expectation regarding the possible esthetic outcome. We also have to understand the biological limitations and the limitations of each individual therapy as a whole as well as the difficulties of every clinical step. The following parameters must be evaluated: smile-line, shape of the ridge, tooth form, neighboring teeth, soft tissue, bone defect, and space and function. A checklist will be presented to evaluate a case regarding a possible treatment with implants in the esthetic zone.

2:10-2:35 pm
Clinical Application of Computer-Guided Surgery for Implant Placement
Alan L. Rosenfeld, DDS
In reality, the use of CT scans for implant treatment is about information management. CT scans provide valuable information leading to more predictable treatment outcomes. The CT data set can be used to construct surgical guides to precisely control osteotomy preparation, implant installation and the delivery of immediate prostheses. This presentation will illustrate the clinical use of CT guidance to enhance effective decision making for implant placement and immediate provisionalization.

2:35-3:00 pm
Immediate Versus Delayed Socket Placement: What We Know,
What We Don't Know and What We Think We Know

Dennis P. Tarnow, DDS
Immediate placements of implants into extraction sockets is an exciting treatment alternative for our patients. However, there are many potential short-term and particularly long-term risks of which the practitioner must be fully aware. This presentation will focus on the potential problems and benefits both clinically and biologically when the choice of immediate socket placement is made for single and multiple skills.

3:30-3:55 pm
Surgical Implant Placement - Immediate Loading Versus Staged Loading in the Esthetic Zone
Clark M. Stanford, DDS, PhD
Tooth replacement therapy creates treatment challenges that are really a process of risk assessment including the patient's medical and dental history, the patient's desires, the number and position of teeth to be replaced the dynamic occlusion, site assessment and the surgical/prosthodontic team's experience with the various procedures.
Each of these creates specific challenges when the team is considering an immediate provisionalization protocol. The goals and outcomes of this procedure should be carefully considered with the patient, who is also a part of the team.

3:55-4:20 pm
Keys and Techniques to Optimize Provisionalization in the
Esthetic Zone
William C. Martin, DMD, MS
Esthetic outcomes for dental implant-based care are at the forefront of modern dentistry. Patients and clinicians alike often evaluate esthetic results with a critical eye, in which success is most often influenced by the quality of the peri-implant tissues and the natural appearance of the restoration(s). The presence or absence of papillae can be influenced by several factors. One factor of importance is the emergence of the implant restoration. This presentation will focus on the transition zone, which is the area from the implant platform to the mucosal margin.

4:20-4:45 pm
Final Prosthesis in the Esthetic Zone
Konrad H. Meyenberg, MD, DDS
Currently, a variety of new implant designs are on the market. Most of these designs are based on advanced ideas about how to improve esthetics. Major differences exist regarding the design of the neck, the abutment and their respective connection. Furthermore, a wide variety of materials and manufacturing techniques for abutments and crowns exist. This provokes some important questions that will be explored and examined during this presentation.
